Drive4Zero has been working closely with Marine Renewable Energy Ireland (MaREI) and University College Cork (UCC) staff members to deliver this exciting initiative. MaREI has applied previous experience from its own pilot e-car program to advise the Drive4Zero planning process, in line with its aim of delivering tailored technological solutions to companies through its industry-led research program. This trial project was driven by the relocation of the main MaREI Centre from UCC’s Main Campus to the Beaufort Building in Ringaskiddy, and the subsequent need to transport students and staff members between the two locations. This project involved the analysis of such aspects as user requirements and behaviour, vehicle operating characteristics, available charging infrastructure, and the development of car-sharing and route optimisation software.
